About Me
Growing up on the West Side of Corpus Christi, I attended Oak Park Elementary School, Driscoll Junior High School and Roy Miller High School. As a youth member of Troop 6, I earned my Eagle Scout rank, Pope Pius Award and participated in my Order of the Arrow Chapter. I also served as the Karankawa Lodge Order of the Arrow Chief in 1990. As a youth, I attended Philmont Scout Ranch, the 1989 National Scout Jamboree, and two National Order of the Arrow Conferences. The highlight of my youth service was working on the Camp Karankawa staff from 1988-1991 and in 1994 as the program director.
During college, I was active as an assistant Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor, and chairman of the Native American Lore Committee of the Karankawa Lodge.
After graduating from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with a BBA in Management, I began working for Texas Office Supply as an inside sales manager. In November 1995, I began my Scouting career as a District Executive for the Gulf Coast Council in Corpus Christi. In January 1999, I was promoted to Field Director where I served as staff leader for four executives and had responsibilities of summer camp director, council program, membership development and fundraising. In January 2003, I separated from the South Texas Council to pursue other interests and to take a sabbatical from Scouting. My longing to return to a career of servant leadership led me to accept a field director position with the Capitol Area Council in March 2004. As a field director in Austin, I gave staff leadership to six field executives raising over $325,000 in Friends of Scouting donations and serving over 14,000 youth annually. I was promoted to Director of Support Service in October 2005 where I had department budget responsibilities of over $1,800,000.
In March 2008, I accepted the position of Assistant Scout Executive in the South Texas Council, a position I held until November 2014 when I accepted the role of Assistant Director of Field Service with the Sam Houston Area Council in Houston, TX. I was promoted to my current positon of Director of Field Service in January 2015. Outside of Scouting, I served as Grand Knight for my Knights of Columbus Council, as a member of the Kiwanis Club, Sunday School Instructor, Venture Crew Advisor for Crew 162 in Corpus Christi, and as chairman of the Bishop Garriga Catholic Middle School advisory board in Corpus Christi. I enjoy reading, Texas History, hiking, kayaking and going to the beach.
